Many of us posses the concept that cholesterol is a fat but the fact is, it is not, because it isn't fattening nor it has any calories but oily in nature and that's why many by mistake consider it as a fat. Most of the cholesterol in our body is made by the liver and the rest are produced from diets. Cholesterol has both good and bad sides but here in this article the importance of cholesterol have been made the center of attention.

Cholesterol also works as an originator to the sex hormones such as testosterone, progesterone and estrogen and also is a precursor to the hormones which regulate blood sugar level specifically the adrenal cortex.

Besides lots of importance we also need to take into account the harmful effects cholesterol can make to our body and health and also consider the risk factors that might cause us trouble due to its presence in the body. Many researches have proven that to prevent heart disease and expect a prolonged life it is very important to lower the cholesterol and triglyceride levels in our body and this idea is both applicable for men and women, young and the old.

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables can lower the cholesterol level in our body whereas processed foods provide more cholesterol and can lead to trouble. So it's always suggested and recommended that you take healthy foods and skip foods with more fats and should give priority to home-cooked meals over supermarket foods. Although there are lots of other importance of cholesterol in out body but we all should be very careful and our main concern would be to have a good diet which should be healthy and free of cholesterol because it's our life and we are the one to take care of it as nobody loves to die early in this beautiful world.
